2021 Planning Meeting

 Yesterday 4 people from each class went to The Good George for a planning meeting for 2021. We got the bus to get there. Everyone had to take notes of what they wanted to do in 2021. We ate pizza and lollies. Then we caught the bus back to school.

 

Make and Create

 Today for maths my group were doing make and create. Our number was 55. I made three ways to make 55

This morning Room 9 was split classes for the morning. Here is the work I did.

First I did some reading which I did on rivet today I read Swimming with a morelet's crocodile.Then I did some matific. Next I did my daily 5.

WeetBix Slice

 Yesterday on room 9’s class call we made weet bix slice. We all got packs of what we needed from Mrs Faalili. First we mixed all the ingredients together. Then we put the mixture into a tray and in the oven.  After 15 minutes everyone took theirs out of the oven in their kitchen. I waited for mine to cool down and then I made the icing. The recipe said to put cocoa powder in the icing but I did not because I wanted to make vanilla icing. Then I put colourful sprinkles on top. That evening my family and I ate some for dessert. My family really liked it but I didn't.  I did not like it because of the chocolate and the weetbix mixed together inside the slice.

Today my maths group did book work. Book work is when you get the questions from a book that is full of maths questions.  Today the work was about fractions.

Baking tamarillo and apple crumble

 On Sunday I baked some tamarillo and apple crumble.  First I peeled, cut and cooked the apples.  Next I spooned all the tamarillo into a bowl and mixed the the apples and tamarillo together. Then we made the crumble. Some of the ingredients are Brown sugar, coconut and oats.  When it was finished we ate it with ice cream.  I liked the crunch in the crumble. 

Tread Lightly Caravan Kahoot

 Today I did the Tread Lightly Caravan kahoot.  It was about what we did when the caravan came to our school. My name was THEPROATKAHOOT!.

Here is my score I came in 30th place because I was not fast enough.

Art Game

 Today on Room 9's video call we played a game called blind artist. I don't know why it is called that because it has nothing to do with blind artists.  The rules are simple someone has to say 4 instructions of things to draw and the other people have to draw the things that the person says. This is my one that I did on google drawings.

Bike Track Opening

Today we had a ceremony to open the bike track. The kapa haka group pouforme and Scott Fairbairn (My Dad) made a speech. Campbell Stewart came and talked about cycling.
After the ceremony we went outside and some people got to ride lapes around the track I was one of them so I rode round and round the track.  Lot of people were cheering for me. On one of my lapes my Dad said "He is behind you Maia!" I looked behind me and Campbell Stewart was chasing me. Everyone was cheering and yelling "don't let him overtake you".I speed up for the bumps and round the obstacle but Campbell did the obstacle and over took me.

Pani popo

Today Room 9 made pani popo, which is a swirly bun with coconut cream
and sugar sauce poured on top. Lots of kids put flour on their face but I didn’t.  

In my group I had Brooke and Bethany. 

Mrs Faalili got up early to make the dough. When she made the dough it was
only a small blob in the giant bowl. 

When I saw the dough it was almost as big as the bowl because the yeast
made it rise. To make the shape we needed, we had to roll out the dough and
roll it up.

We didn’t have a rolling pin so we used a can of coconut cream instead. Then we
used the cream later in the recipe.

When we finished making the pani popo we shared them with the teachers.

I had lots of fun.

Lately my beagle dog Neon has been sleeping in weird positions and sometimes sleep growling.

Cheese Scones

Cheese Scones

Today my Mum and I made some scones.  It was a very simple recipe and makes 12 scones.

Here is the recipe

These are the ingredients from the Annabel Langbein recipe that we used;

2 Cups Plain Yoghurt
2 1/2 Cups Flour
2 1/2 Cups Grated Cheese

Then we added
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
lots of black pepper

Method
Put the ingredients in a bowl and mix them up
Then cut into 12 equal pieces and put them on an oven tray
Next, heat oven to 200C and bake until they have cooked through and are golden.

They were delicious!

Bubble Painting

My brother and I did some bubble painting.
My brother found the containers that we needed and Mum got the mixture ready.  The mixture was made of water, dishwashing liquid and food colouring.  We had four different colours which were black, orange, blue and green.  The blue and the the black worked better than the orange and green because they were darker.  We had to get a straw and blow bubbles into the container.  Then we had to take the straw out and put a piece of paper on top of the bubbles.  The bubbles went on to the paper and made a pattern.

Anzac Poppy Wreath

Today I made a poppy wreath out of cupcake cases.  First I cut the middle of a paper plate out.  Next I warmed the hot glue gun up.  Then I cut out some black circles and some green leaves and glued the leaves in the gaps below the cases on the plate. then glue the circles in the middle of the cases.

Day 6

"Lets open it said Bunny".  " Ok!" said Disco.  "You start from that end and I'll start from this end".  "Ready, Set, Go!" said Bunny, impatiently.  They opened the parcel and found that it was lots of disco supplies including a party banner, a disco ball and party poppers.  "That's cool" said Bunny and Disco together.  "Hey, and look in the bottom there", said Bunny, "it's a bubble blower!  Shall we try the bubbles we bought from Gilda?"

The two friends poured the bubble mixture into the bubble machine and watched the bubbles fly out but as they watched, the bubbles got bigger and bigger.  Soon they were as big as the friends...

The friends took their bubbles and went home.  When they got home, they found a big parcel at their doorstep.  It was a weird shape and it was wrapped in blue wrapping paper which had black dots on it.  The friends wondered who would give them such a big parcel.  Disco tried to pick the parcel up but it was too heavy so he asked Bunny to help and they just managed to pick it up.  They took it inside and looked to see if there was a card but they only found a label which said "To Disco and Bunny, From the Party Place".  "Oh I guess they knew we were going to have a party and they have sent us some stuff" said Bunny.

When Disco and Bunny finished writing they hopped in the car and drove to their friends houses and put the invitations in their mail boxes.  Once they delivered  the last invite they started heading home.  On the way they saw Gilda selling bubbles for $1 per pack. "How much money do you have Disco?" asked Bunny?  "$3" said Disco.  "So lets buy three bottles of bubbles then.".  They stopped and asked Gilda for 3 packs and gave her the money.

Now that Bunny and Disco had agreed on who they were inviting to their party, they had to decide what the entertainment was going to be.  They made a list;

• DJ and sound system
• Party Bags with toys, lollies and books
• Food
• Lights and a disco ball
• Foam pit
• Drinks - water, juice, slushies and milkshakes

But first they agreed they needed to make invitations so they went to Look Sharp.  Disco wanted to buy Spiderman invitations but Bunny wanted to buy Princess invitations.  What are they going to do?  Disco was getting grumpy so Bunny took him to Colombus Cafe for a raspberry milkshake.  When he was feeling better, they went back to Look Sharp and chose invitations with swirly bright colours and stars on them.  They both felt excited and went home to start writing the invitations.

Day 2

The first thing Bunny and Disco needed to plan was who was going to come to the disco.  They agreed that they could have 40 friends in total so they each wrote a list of animals they wanted to invite.  Disco had 21 and Bunny had 30.  Uh oh, that was too many.  Bunny said "Oh no, I have to many!"  "Why don't we check that we don't have the same animals" said Disco.   The two friends found out that Bunny had 9 friends that were the same as Disco's.

Day 1

Bunny and Disco were enjoying the autumn sun at the park.  They had been on the seesaw together and they were on the monkey bars for so long that their paws got sore.  The friends were so tired, they went home to get some lunch.  They had mac and cheese with garlic bread.  It was delicious.  In the afternoon they played Roblox until their eyes turned square ;-)  After dinner which was cheese toasties and nectarines, they decided to plan a disco for all their friends.

My Imaginary house

I made this house on google drawings out of shapes.   My house has a nectarine tree in the front yard.  It has heaps of nectarines on it.  I have a nectarine tree because I like nectarines and they are my favourite fruit.  It also has a teddy bear in the window for people who pass by to see.

Neon's Birthday

On the 30th of March it was my dog's first birthday.  We gave her a third of a bone. Because last time she had a bone she ate the whole thing and she got a stomach ache.  My dog's name is Neon and she is special because she is an MPI dog which means she will work at the airport when she is older.  We're just fostering her so we have to give her back. My brother and I painted rocks and a sign for her Birthday. We made the sign on cardboard and she ate it. We also bought her a toy that said it was the strongest toy but she ate it in 2 minutes and Mum put it in the bin.

Lockdown

Lock down

I feel annoyed because I like school and I can’t see my friends or go out to different places

- like I can’t go to the zoo.  I feel like I am just on school holidays but doing school work.  

At home with my family, I have been baking and listening to David Walliams stories

and taking the dog for a walk in the evenings.

I think that the lock down will go for five weeks.

The worst thing about being on lock down is that I can’t see my friends and I miss them. 

The best thing is spending time with my family.

Baking at home

I made yoghurt donuts with passionfruit icing.  We grew the passionfruit in our garden. Our dog tried to steal one off the bench but we stopped her and went she away.  The donuts were delicious. My favourite part was making the icing.
